A Nurturing Government .... What The?
When did our Governments turn into our Mothers? Or perhaps more importantly, when did we decide that our Governments had to take on a Mothering (or Fathering) role in our lives?
When did it happen that we as a community decided that life had to be always fare and if anything went wrong someone else was to blame ..... never my fault!
There are so many ‘rules’ now that I can’t keep up with them all. I am confident that in many cases, if I was fined or arrested (God forbid) for an infringement or crime, I could honestly stand up in court and say that I had no idea I had done the wrong thing.
So many people today want to blame someone when life does a dive. Well sometimes life just does a dive and we have little control over it. Even when it’s a BIG dive it’s all about how we manage the ‘dive’. If you naively think that life is always going to be perfect you leave yourself open to a lot of heart ache and looking for someone else to blame and someone else to fix it. And that’s where our Governments now find themselves being expected to fix things and legislating against happenstance.
I have great respect for my clients, both private and corporate, who come when they become aware that something is not going well in their lives or work place. They are the people who accept responsibility for the decisions they make, what to get great outcomes and proactively work towards identifying, developing and implementing strategies for successful outcomes. Sometimes it doesn’t work out how they planned but they feel that they had control and can more often understand and accept the outcomes. It’s called resilience. It’s this resilience that sees us better coping when a ‘big dive’ comes along that we haven’t had any control over also.
If life was always perfect we wouldn’t have any dives but we wouldn’t have any highs either. And it’s the highs that make it all such a grand adventure.
Enjoy and laugh lots!
